Developmental Edit

A developmental edit is a deep dive into your manuscript, and rates are calculated based on the length of your book. Included is an in-depth reading with comments in track changes, as well as an editorial letter with feedback. I look at all major story elements--plot, character, structure, pacing, setting, dialogue, stakes, and genre conventions.

I work with the following genres and categories: romance, women's fiction, mystery, historical, romantic women's fiction, and young adult.

Editorial Assessment

Between a beta read and a full developmental edit, an editorial letter will reveal where your book needs improvement.

Focusing on character, narrative, POV, conflict, theme, pacing, and dialogue. I'll ask lots of questions and make suggestions to help you figure out where to punch up your story.  If you are interested in this service, please send a message. Rates depend on the length of the book.

I work with the following genres and categories: Romance, Women's Fiction, Romantic Women's Fiction, Cozy Mystery, and Young Adult.

Rates

  •  A single-pass developmental edit is charged at 1.5-2 cents per word, and the final price will be agreed upon after it's determined what work needs to be done. Additional passes can be factored into the job at a higher per-page rate.

  • The editorial assessment is a flat rate, depending on the book's length and what you expect from my read. A fee will be agreed upon before I start work.

  • Customized proposals that combine coaching and editorial services can be drafted to align with your specific needs.
