I specialize in coaching writers of romance, women's fiction, mystery, young adult, and narrative nonfiction.

2. What is your background and experience?

 

I've published 19 books in romance and women's fiction with both Big 5 and boutique publishers. I've completed my editing and publishing certificate from UCLA's Writers' Program, and I have almost four decades of experience in education.

 

3. What does an author coach do?

 

As a coach, I can help you with the following:

  • Query letter development to pitch the manuscript to agents and publishers.

7. Do you offer workshops for groups and organizations?

Yes, I offer workshops for libraries, community organizations, and writing groups. These workshops cover various aspects of writing and publishing, tailored to the group's needs and interests. You can see what I offer here.

8. Do you offer ghostwriting services?

​

No, I'm not a ghostwriter. However, if you need a referral, I can recommend several good people who do that kind of work.

Terms of Service

1. Introduction
Welcome to Five Harbors Literary. By engaging with our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Our commitment is to provide professional guidance and support to help you develop your writing and navigate the publishing industry. While we will work diligently to assist you in improving your writing skills and understanding of the publishing industry, we cannot guarantee that you will be offered representation by an agent or secure a publishing contract. Our role is to support and guide you in your author journey, not to ensure a specific outcome.

2. Services Provided

  • Personalized coaching sessions tailored to your writing goals

  • Feedback on your manuscript, query letters, and proposals.

  • Guidance on the publishing process (traditional and independent) and industry standards.

  • Strategies for improving your writing and author platform.

3. Client Responsibilities

  • To actively participate in scheduled coaching sessions.

  • To consider and apply the feedback and advice provided.

  • To maintain professional conduct and communication.

5. Payment and Refund Policy

  • Fees for our coaching services will be agreed upon before the commencement of services.

  • Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise arranged.

  • Refunds are not available for services rendered, but we strive to ensure client satisfaction with our offerings.

6. Confidentiality
We respect the privacy and confidentiality of your work and personal information. All discussions and materials shared will be kept confidential unless prior permission is given for sharing or disclosure.

 

7. Termination of Services
Either party may terminate the coaching agreement with written notice. If termination occurs in the first fifteen days of a monthly package, refunds will be issued on a pro-rated basis. 

 

8. Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which our business operates.

 

9. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Your continued use of our services following any such modification constitutes your agreement to the modified terms.
